Obi-Wan Kenobi Review
Obi-Wan Kenobi, the series, is now streaming on Disney Plus each week. The show takes place 10 years after the film Revenge of the Sith, and follows Obi-Wan Kenobi to the planet Tatooine. It is there where he goes into hiding to safely watch over a young Luke Skywalker; however, we have seen very little of him up until now.
Obi-Wan is thus far portrayed as a man who is not sure of where he is going in life. He seems to have lost his use of the Force and almost appears cowardly at times. Not sure if the writers were aiming for this or not? He is being hunted constantly by the Inquisitors, who are sent from the Empire to destroy any remaining Jedi, including Obi-Wan Kenobi.
And of course, the man behind the new, evil Empire is the newly created Darth Vader from the remains of Anakin Skywalker who is more machine than man. Not only do we see young Luke, but we also see young princess Leia who was kidnapped and used to lure Obi-Wan to Darth Vader.
So far we are four episodes in out of six, and I have to say I am enjoying it. Obi-Wan is one of my favorite Star Wars characters, and I am glad that there is a backstory. It sheds some light on the years between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. I can’t wait to see the next episodes!
