Mean Girls, the Broadway adaptation of the 2004 movie, has officially closed off of Broadway. This show was nominated for 12 Tony Awards, played 29 previews and 805 regular performances on Broadway.

The decision was made to finally come off Broadway because of the expenses. It just cost too much to keep the show together when theaters weren’t open. The Mean Girls cast is still expecting to go on a national tour when it’s safe to finally do so.

And for all you people missing Mean Girls on Broadway, don’t worry because there will soon be a musical movie adaption of  Mean Girls. Lorne Michaels will be producing this movie musical as well as Tina Fey, who is writing the movie’s script.
